I think I just learned why The Count is a vampire?!
Saw this in Reddit's Fan Theories section, and a Google search comes up with a lot of hits, so.......I think this is totally a thing.
In ancient folklore, vampires were often described as suffering from arithmomania, which is a mental disorder that manifests as an obsession with counting objects or actions. Stories tell of how vampires could be occupied all night by leaving a bag of rice open, forcing them to count each and every grain until the sun came up and burned them to death or forced them back home.
So it's not just randomly a purple vampire who's obsessed with counting......it's actually adapting a piece of old folklore into a children's show character. ☺ share
