'Pretending you've got a sliver'???

What the fvck is that even supposed to mean?

reply

Maybe that he's faking being hurt (i.e. a sliver in his paw) to get out of being sent after some ghost or monster by Freddie

reply

What a weird thing to do to get out of something.

It seems to me like the lazy song writers just wanted anything that rhymed with "sliver" so they could make the song long enough for the opening.

It was the late 60s. Of course they were lazy, they were stoned out of their minds when they wrote the song.

If you want to hear some hilariously lazy song lyrics from a cartoon intro, listen to the theme song from the Swamp Thing cartoon:

Scooby pretends to have something stuck in/wrong with his paw in quite a few early episodes.

reply

But he did do it and that was a use for the word. Using a word you are not familiar with is not them being lazy.

Gamefaqs has a far worse population than IMDB

There's and episode where Scooby pretends to have a sliver in his paw. It's supposed to be a lame excuse, and it was played for laughs.
