It appears we have an actual mystery on our hands.

I just recently bought the complete series box set and decided to possibly purchase some episodes from iTunes just for the heck of it, not included on the box set from The Scooby-Doo Show. Problem is, they have mysteriously disappeared when they were there a few days ago. Anyone know why iTunes just magically decided to remove a bunch of episodes of not only the original show but then a bunch from The Scooby-Doo Show? Now it's "By Episode Only" and it skips episodes randomly with various numbers going missing and it's absolutely ridiculous because they were there a couple days ago.

From what i've read the Wb department that releases those downloads to Amazon/itunes/etc seems to very much really be a mystery. Apparently some of the stuff they had up before WB ever gave a physical disc release have vanished before.

I can't help but wonder if it's either A. a temporary goof or B. preparing for Warner to go back and finish up the physical disc sets, since limiting the offerings there would up demand no doubt.

However i suspect some people have not bothered with the random episode sets nor the downloads due to the fact they would no matter what have to double dip if theye want any of the non scooby shows that are from the horse's mouth are still tied to be released with the scooby shows.

Huh. To be honest I don't really understand some of what you said towards the end, but overall I think I understand your theory. One thing I forgot about until now, it that ironically enough, Amazon still actually has all the same episodes up on their instant video site. Why would they only remove random episodes, though? Should I try to see if there's an update for iTunes or something? I only wanted to buy some maybe I should just buy the whole season and be done with it. I don't understand what you mean by non-Scooby shows and the horse's mouth, though. Sorry. lol What is still tied to be released? And what physical DVD sets are still waiting to be released? Thanks for your reply and the info. Just confused on some of the other details.

Way back when certain Scooby series were aired originally with other shows in what were called blocks. These archaic formats have been mostly obliterated in favor of them airing separately. But due to certain collectors really annoying demands for things "as originally aired" WB chose to release for example "the Scooby Doo Dynomutt Hour" and "The Scooby Doo/Richie Rich show" in combined format instead of say just releasing the scooby doo show by itself or dynomutt by itself.

So then years later when MOST of the Hanna Barbera show's physical disc releases moved over to the Warner Archive division people started asking about certain shows, but they told them they were still in Warner Home Video's hands, which includes Dynomutt's second season, Richie Rich's first and second season and the Puppy's further adventures season 1. In this day and age we can reasonably say it is highly unlikely none of these three would gain releases on their own in stores if more popular brands like the jetsons or jonny quest for exaple are not. So the only logical reason they would NOT just being released like all the others is if WB has some future plan to resume scooby doo season sets with those shows going along for the ride.

This being said though, IF YOU ONLY WANT SCOOBY DOO CARTOONS, then the customer who wants that would have zero problem buying the digital downloads or random episode dvds. But if you have any interest in NOT JUST SCOOBY, all of those people are probably not buying any of those sets, because they know they'd just have to rebuy the same scooby material again.

Which is why i questioned why would they only remove a few random episodes, given i'm pretty sure the market is kinda of solid of people who are already content and people who never bit yet. And given that if they are still up on Amazon i'd imagine it's more itunes being weird, but then again WB did retitle their dvd release from 2012 to sound like a season set, so like i said it's possible too they might be prepping to return to scooby season sets soon as well.

But also correct me if i'm wrong are the remaining New Scooby Movies (the guest star series) and the New Scooby Doo Mysteries (the scooby/shaggy/scrappy/daphne season with fred and velma guest spots) available at all on Amazon or Itunes? I seem to remember reading they weren't.

They don't appear to be there, no. But yeah I remember all the combined releases stuff. But yeah I only want Scooby-Doo. Although some of the episodes by themselves would be nice to have on DVD. I don't know I guess I'll just have to wait and see if iTunes returns them anytime soon. It's so ridiculous.
