Shaggy calls the Lion 'Simba'

In the epidode "Bedlam in the Big Top", Shaggy gets hypnotized and starts acting like a Lion tamer. While taming the Lion, he calls it Simba at least twice.

I looked it up and cant find anywhere on the internet where a Lion was named Simba before Disneys "The Lion King", which came out in the 1990s. "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" was filmed in the 1960's if I remember correctly.

Did Disney rip off the name Simba from Scooby Doo?

May have answered my own question. Simba is swahili for Lion.

"Simba" was a very common name to call lions - particularly lions (and other large animals, like elephants) in circuses long before "Scooby-Doo" came along.

As "Bob" and "Joe" are names you can call out in a crowd and get a lot of responses. if you called out "Simba" or "Leo" to a bunch of non-wild lions you'd probably get the same response

Gamefaqs has a far worse population than IMDB

Yup, it's a lion.

Bruce Lee was real. Batman was never real.
