Okay were are the missing 8?????

About the recent Scooby Doo DVD cartoon release.

Do you know why there are 8 missing episodes?

1. The Curse of Viking Lake
2. Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats
3. Hang in There, Scooby Doo
4. The Chiller Diller Movie Thriller
5. The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race
6. The Ozark Witch Switch
7. The Creepy Cruise
8. The Creepy Heap From the Deep

Now will there be a release of these on DVD sometime this year?
I was so looking forward to "Viking Lake", "Chiller Diller Thriller",
"Grand Prix Race", "Creepy Heap", and my FAVORITE "Vampire Bats"

When I asked my friend at tvshowsondvd.com, he could not answer
why these were not included in the DVD release.

reply

I also noticed that.

I was looking and looking in seasons 1, 2, and 3 to find certain episodes.

The one about the ghost of a crazed mad doctor at niagra falls. Sleepy Hollow. Even the 10000 volt ghost.

reply

The episodes you mentioned are on the DVD set "Scooby-Doo/Dyno-Mutt Hour". The mad doctor episode is "Harum Scarum Sanitarium" (partial title, can't remember the rest!), "Headless Horseman Of Halloween" is the Sleepy Hollow one, and "Watt A Shocking Ghost" has the 10,000 Volt Ghost in it. That set even includes "The No-Face Zombie Chase" and "Mamba Wamba and the Voodoo Hoodoo"! Plus the Dyno-Mutt and Blue Falcon episodes to boot!

Sincerely,
Exchronos

Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats in which Dracula hires them to get rid of Van Helsings ghost can be found on the Creepiest Cases of ScoobyDoo video and now dvd release.

reply

"Vampire Bats And Scaredy Cats" isn't that episode, the episode with Van Helsing's ghost is "Halloween Hassle At Dracula's Castle" from the "New Scooby-Doo Mysteries" series from the 1980s...it has Scrappy, and these missing episodes are before Scrappy!

"Vampire Bats And Scaredy Cats" deals with the gang visiting a friend on an island for her birthday. On her birthday she inherits the island's hotel which is also having a coffin convention as well. Scooby-Dum is in the episode. A vampire shows up wanting ownership of the hotel or else the lady who'll inherit will suffer the family vampire curse, because supposedly the vampire is her grandfather she never met!

Sincerely,
Exchronos

Those are not from "Scooby Doo Where Are You?" they're from "The Scooby Doo Show" of the Late 70's

reply

Thanks for that info. Hmmmmmmm....I wonder if they will get DVD treatment as well. :) I sure hope so. :)

Strangely you can download those exact episodes from itunes. I know, because I just did.

Does anyone know a email so I can ask WB about this?

For those interested there have been a lot of changes since this post.

Warner Archive as of right now has gotten nearly all the cleareance of the Hanna Barbera (and extended Ruby Spears) shows to do season sets.

At this point in time Warner Home Video is only keeping Scooby Doo (and shows paired with Scooby) and Tom and Jerry out of their hands.

You can write on the Warner Archive Collection's fb page asking if they could put the missing Scooby Doo Show and Dynomutt episodes on DVD.

As of right now they can't but they say they'll pass the word to WHV, however let's face the truth, WHV isn't probably going to be doing any more season sets, but if enough people keep asking WA, eventually WB should get smart and let the fans that want Scooby doo season sets to get them through the WA and keep WHV releasing smaller episodes.

Eventually i'm sure WA will be able to give us all the rest of the Scooby but if more people ask we may be able to make what may take years, take off some months from the time.

Thanks, Odd.

I downloaded the missing 8 episodes off of iTunes. It was great time travel to see long missed episodes in the original animation, voice-acting, and direction. I didn't realize there are missing Dynomutt episodes.

Now if we can get the other New Scooby Doo Movies out of litigation.

reply

There has been a little bit of changes that have happened since then and i'll mention this right now:

WHV has gone back and so far did a second attempt at a release of the Laff-a-lympics, so that was good to see.

Now they have announced Tom and Jerry Kids season 1 is coming out, so season sets are not entirely out of the question.

Plus WB is releasing a new Scooby movie that is apparently going meta/non-cannon with them solving a mystery on a Blue Falcon movie premier. If that sells well they might release the set that probably is the hold up on them. It would probably be titled "adventures with Scooby and Dynomutt" or whatever but i still beleive those missing eps have to be packaged together for one day release since other wise WA should have gotten the ability to work on the DYnomutt segments.

As far as the New Scooby Movies, there has really been no official news but back in 2006 when they released it WB then hadn't gotten rights cleared to release Josie or Addams Family material, those problems are clearly no longer problems so chances are the Socoby movie episodes were probably cleared too.

However chances are there will be no set until all nine of those are cleared, and i'm guessing chances are all nine as of this writing aren't. However we have no clue as to whether it's one epiosde stalling it or if a whole bunch are still issues.

This is helpful information since I was just about to post a thread with the very same question about the "missing" eps.
I collected a list of episodes (all except the "Movies" from the 1972 series, which I just haven't gotten to yet).
I assume the bolded Dynomutt/Scooby season 2 below are the only missing eps of Scooby? (I have the other sets that have been released and these are the only missing eps, unless I missed something).

Yep still waiting. My current thought on this is that WHV is doing one season set or set to fill the role of a season set from HB per year right now. With Laff-a-lympics in 2012, Tom and Jerry kids in 2013 and Flintstone Kids in 2014.

I note that even though their is squat on the original packaging WB's own site renamed the Laff-a-lympics one "The Complete First Collection". The Flintstone Kids one seems to be on a similar path as it only has season 1 episodes on it. Also they knocked off the "season two" part of those earlier smurf volumes, probably to avoid confusion with a later re-relase for season two.

I get the feeling they are testing waters here. The Laff-a-lympics is clearly the most popular of the to be released shows with Scooby in them to tackle, so it goes first. It's sales will probably determine if the next Scooby set (probably the missing eight and Dynomutt) will stay at retail or not.

I'm strengthend on this because WHV threw some Tex Avery cartoons "bonus" on a looney tunes blu, yet i was told that the MGM shorts not T&J are all getting their actual release at some point via Warner Archive. So that should hold true that even though they throw older Scooby episodes on these new sets, they are technically "bonus" all the same. So WB should still have a plan for a "full release" at some point. Which is basically what i've been saying for several years to people online, but now I've got a good pattern going here, so I'm quite frankly no longer worried i'm going to end up eating my words :)

Thanks for the info... I'll be waiting. :)

While I made a wrong guess on which would turn up first, the recent announcement of a scooby doo season set days after a episode sampler, should finally silence the people who doubted the season sets were still going to happen.

So now it should only be a matter of time, and not "if" these other episodes get their day on a set.

Do you have a link to the announcement? Is it on the Warner site?

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Scooby-Scrappy-Doo-Season-1/20722

Of the ten potential Scooby season sets left for them to issue they chose the first Scrappy season to go first.

I'd say this confirms that Scooby season sets are still planned but also confirms WHV itself is still jumping around too instead of running through shows in order. I know that ticks some people off, but it doesn't bother me.

But I wouldn't worry anymore, those missing eight will surface on a set somewhere down the line. Patterns are good, conspiracies are not. I admit it may be annoying if it's in year intervals but I guess i'm more patient that a lot of other cartoon fans it seems lol.

I hope that I'm wrong and that changes...

They're on iTunes! Dare I say though, unless you really like them, just stick with season 3. Most of these are building blocks for later episodes anyway. Many borrowed plot elements which make them sort of boring.
