Has Monty Python's Flying Circus ever taught you something?

Has Monty Python's Flying Circus ever taught you something you used in real life?

I was in World History class in the 10th grade in high school. The teacher asked if anyone knew who invented the hot air balloon. Because of Monty Python's Flying Circus, I knew the Montgolfier brothers invented the fire balloon.

That's twice British TV taught me something I used in school. The Five Doctors on Doctor Who taught me the definition of Pi.

As they wete allhighly educated people, it would be nigh onimpossible if their sketches didn't include genuine facts.

It taught me that there is a Basingstoke in Westphalia.

It taught me there is such a thing AS Basingstoke. Being an American fan, I'd never heard of it before.

Since they were obviously pointing out Basingstoke isn't in Westphalia, I had to look it up to see where it actually was back in 1994 when I first saw the episode. I had never seen that episode before, even going back to PBS in 1985. I never saw it until it aired in Comedy Central's package.

Ok not Flying Circus TV series but Holy Grail taught me it was ridiculous to think that very small rocks could float in water.
