Ok friend, I had that coming.
I'm a paraplegic, and my hands slip, so I don't spell as I should.
I'm a historian, not a grammer expert.

reply

So the audience is made up of hicks and disabled people?

reply

Heehee. I meant that there was a larger interest in safe, relaxed, ordinary humor

Seanpdineen, I apologize for the dolts that replied to you on here. Obviously, they are too insensitive to ANYONE to be on ANY site. My Dad watches the show any time he gets the chance so I see it when I am visiting him. It is a cute show with a lot of fans from all walks of life.

reply

Indeed. Thank you my friend. My spelling gets difficult sometimes because of my disabilty. It was a great relaxing distraction, to watch, plus I have always loved country music.

I would not consider myself a "hick". I do live in Texas. I love Texas... I am proud of my home state. However, I am far from a "hick". Yet, I loved Hee-Haw.

reply

Indeed. Texas is a wonderful state, I have been there only once, studying at President Johnson's library.

I agree with you professor! I think Hee Haw and other such shows appealed to a largely intelligent & dignified audience. Much of today's junk on the tube is rubbish to feed small minds. Speaking of small minds, please ignore the trolls here. They are not on your level. :)

reply

Thank you my friend! I enjoy everything from Mad men, to old popeye cartoons and back.

reply

Some posters are so mean.

Thanks for your support friend, We are all having fun.

That joke might go over better in math class. It kind of reminds me of a lame joke one of my geometry teachers once told.

What did the seed say when it finally grew up?
Gee, I'm a tree! (geometry)

_______
The sun is shining... but the ice is slippery.

reply

The jokes were hit and miss but some were pretty good. One I remember from childhood was two of the Hee Haw Honeys (actually I think it was Misty Rowe and the non-Honey but the wholesome Cathy Baker) commenting in the cornfield.

CATHY: I went to a costume party the other night and saw my friend and I didn't know him from Adam.
MISTY: Oh my goodness, they were dressed like that??!!

reply

No, it wasn't for hicks.

It was for rubes.

reply

When I was a child my step-mother watched this show. It was like nails on a chalkboard.

reply

I never considered my folks to be hicks. We all use to watch it each week when i was a kid. My friends and I still remember that song.....

Where oh where are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over cause I thought I'd found true love.
You met another and (raspberry) you were gone.
