Hilarious! Nobody on that episode or IMDB realized this!

Okay, this is too funny and too good for me not to share:

Remember the feminism episode----Marcia Brady goes camping in Greg's wilderness meeting, [They were called "Frontier Scouts" not boy scouts] meanwhile Peter joins the "Sunflower Girls" to even out the score?

Well, remember the scene when the Brady's are all double checking the rules and they say literally say----"Nothing in their says that you have to be a 'girl' to join the "Sunflower Girls"

Eh---yeah, maybe---but what about, oh I don't know-----THE TITLE!

THE TITLE OF THE NATURE MEETING "SUNFLOWER GIRLS: SAYS "GIRLS" RIGHT IN IT!"

IT'S CALLED THE SUNFLOWER GIRLS! NOT THE SUNFLOWER KIDS, OR THE SUNFLOWER CHILDREN, IT SPECIFICALLY SAYS GIRLS!!!!

They said that nothing in the guidebook says that boys can't join that it's for girls only, eh yeah:

The Guidebook is titled: The Sunflower Girls.

The group is titled: The Sunflower Girls.

That should really be a dead giveaway that this is meant only for girls and not for boys!

reply

eh... do you know how many avon ladies out there who are not ladies? too many.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

They said,

"Nothing in the guide says you have to be a girl"

The whole name of the group says: "Sunflower Girls"

Besides, if I remember correctly; they wore skirts. That's another dead giveaway.
Frontier Scouts on the other hand, that was more ambiguous, besides, if Greg was too old to join "Sunflower Girls" that Marcia was in, shouldn't he have been too old for frontier scouts as well?

reply

I realized that. I was thinking about it the other day.

The Boy Scouts has the highest rank as Eagle Scout, which is usually obtained by the time you graduate high school.

So if we consider that the same as Frontier Scouts, Marcia could have gotten in.

reply

So how come they let men play in the National Football League. It says Football right in the name. It's not the National Man League. Someone needs to read the rule book.

reply

[deleted]

Marcia wasn't a sunflower but they still let her in.

a few years back at the world series of poker a few profession men poker players demanded entry into the women's world series of poker tournament. no where in the rules did it say that only a woman could play, and the guys were allowed to play....a total dck move in my opinion, but they played, and lost anyway.

A few years ago, a high school somewhat near me made news when a male foreign exchange student from Germany wanted to play field hockey. The only problem was that the school only had a women's team, playing in a women's league. He got the okay to play, and was the only male in the state on any roster.

He scored more goals in one game than many teams did all year, and single-handedly led his school's team to the state championship!

reply

'Sunflower Girls' it's right there in the name. Frontier Scouts? Not so much.

reply

Was Marcia a Sunflower Girl or did she get too old for it? It's may be similar to "Brownies" which then when you get older it becomes 'Girl Scouts". Therefore, she may be the right age for "Frontier Scouts" but too old for "Sunflower Girls".
