Steve McQueens fav movie
I read in a biography that McQueen stated that this was his favorite film that he made.
Kind of opposite to who he was, a uneducated gear-head, which is probably why he enjoyed playing the part.

He's caste against type . . . yet pulls in a great movie here . . . shall we say, one of his more sedate performances . . . yet, still intriguing . . .

It cites that he favored the character he played in Bullitt…amybe becasue of his love for race driving…?? Ironially, the next film he championed to director Norman Jewsion was Crown…..wanting a departure from previous films…and roles…
