Missing Animation Sequence

It's been years since I've seen this until now. Am I crazy or wasn't there a great 60s psychedelic animation sequence 2/3rds into the original theatrical version that was edited out of the version now in TV or video circulation?

I heard the question. . .maybe on TCM: who else but Burt Lancaster could have physically pulled this off? I can t think of two actors who stayed fit for years: Kirk Douglas and Charlton Heston.
