Estelle Parsons stole the film

I thought the movie was okay overall, but it's meant to showcase Woodward's performance. In fact, it was Parsons that I thought stole every scene she was in. I felt a lot more for her than for the principle character, in particular because her loneliness and unhappiness were despite her best efforts and not just a consequence of a failure to engage with life as they were for the protagonist.

I thought she came across very likeable and sad.

That's interesting what you say about her character, but I thought Kate Harrington was better. Ultimately, however, this really was all about Woodward's performance for me.

I found EP's character overbearing and creepy.

ManinOil, I agree with you 100%. EP was fantastic. Woodward's character was a little boring to me.
