Danner House Outdoor Elevator

The elevator platform outside the Danner house was unusual. I have seen similar contraptions in public places like tourist attractions but never at a private house.

I have two questions I hope someone can answer.

1- Does anyone know the location of the Danner house? Is it really in San Francisco?

2- Where exactly did the elevator platform go?

It kind of looked like it went from the front of the house to a parking area on top of the hill. But I swear I saw cars parked next to the house, too. I'm looking through Reel SF but I haven't seen that location mentioned yet.

After I made the original post, I found more information. Basically the movie makers faked two locations to look like one place. Very sneaky.

Then don't research the car chase sequence in Bullitt (1968).
The locations for that are even more disjointed.
