Interview on Turner Classic Movies

Peter O'Toole stated on his interview on Turner Classic movies that there were only two women who could have played Eleanor of Aquitaine - Katherine Hepburn or Vivien Leigh. He said Vivien was ill at the time so he personally asked Katherine Hepburn. Fortunately she accepted the role.

It was a piece of good fortune for us all, because I cam't imagine any other actresss of the time holding their own so successfully against O'Toole's Henry Plantagenet, force of nature.
