Geoffrey's ;battle;?

Always wondered, just what was the battle on the beach Geoffrey is overseeing in his 1st scene of the film? or is it just practice or training?

reply

Geoffrey ruled Brittany, which is notoriously rebellious, so I assume he was suppressing a routine rebellion. Given his intensity, I also think he was trying to prove he's as good at war as Richard, so maybe he even stirred up trouble on purpose to give himself an excuse to play general.

The point of that scene was to set up Geoffrey's character: the aloof plotter who enjoys standing back and watching the conflicts he creates among others.
