Samuel L. Jackson

In one of the earlier scenes in the conning tower prior to a deep dive the Captain asks a crewman for a report of what he sees on some type of display screen. The young sailor appears to be a very young Samuel L. Jackson.

Has anyone else seen this and would like to agree or disagree?

According to IMDB and Wiki, his first movie role was in 1972, and a very minor one at that.

Watched out for Sam the man when I watched the video last night. I can see your point: similar bone structure around the mouth........
According to his unofficial website Sam was busy 'kidnapping' Rev. Martin Luther King in a College stunt in 1969 so I doubt he had just broke into movies at that time...

There was another guy in those sub scenes who I thought might have been Powers Boothe but I'm sure it wasn't....

Was the "Jackson" lookalike Lloyd Haynes from Room 222? I know the "Powers Boothe" lookalike. Much older than Boothe, but there is a similarity. Good eyes!

Cool! Do you still see him? Did he make a career of acting and get an imdb entry? Was he involved in the first phase of filming when apparently Gregory Peck and David Niven were the captain and the British agent?

Ciao!!

Never knew about the Gregory Peck/David Niven thing. Very interesting. Would have loved Peck in the role! Better than Rock. Still like McGoohan as the agent, tho.

I don't know about Peck. He was great, but Hudson underplayed Ferraday very nicely. I liked Hudson in the part because, after awhile, he was Ferraday and not Rock Hudson playing Commander Ferraday. Very professional. Peck would have been good, too, but would he break free from Gregory Peck playing the sub captain? Maybe he's getting his chance on the big screen up above.
Now, Niven. Nope, can't see it. Jones has to be fairly young and totally vicious. Patrick M. nailed him. I would have trouble seeing David Niven in the part.
But, once again, the marquee might be reading something different in Heaven.
