I'm just watching this movie now, January 24, and I'd like to wish Ernie and his unbelieveably horrid Russian accent a Happy 93rd Birthday!

This film was originally announced to feature the star trio of Guns of Navarone - Peck, Niven and Quinn. While Hudson and McGoohan prove quite satisfactory, for once Ernest Borgnine does come up with a poor performance.

Actually it's less the performance than it is the accent, but it is one of the film's big problems. The other is an arctic setting shot indoors and about as convincing as another planet on the original Star Trek.
