I really loved this film and I'd like to know of some other arctic thrillers. Also films like Bear Island and The Thing.

Type 'Arctic' in the search box. I got 85 films and counting.
Wasn't The Thing in the ANTarctic?
Does that matter?
I suppose it does if you're a penguin.
Oh Baby, it's cold outside......
There s A COLD NIGHT S DEATH with Eli Wallach and Robert Culp, playing at a laboratory complex at a polar station. Got something to do with primates. Saw this the last time I was a kid - but was freaked out; could imagine, it still works today (its from 1973). By the way, does somebody know about the box office results of ICE STATION ZEBRA? Did not find anything. Help would be appreciated :)
shareOh, and soon there will be 30 DAYS OF NIGHT - very promising storyline, looking forward to it!

I'm fond of an '80s film called Iceman, about a prehistoric man found frozen in ice and he is thawed out in modern day. It's more of an ethical science film than thriller and is a little slow, but I still like it.

Try ISLAND IN THE SKY (1953), directed by WIlliam Wellman and starring John Wayne, Lloyd Nolan, Andy Devine and young James Arness in a small role. An Army transport plane crash lands somewhere near the Labrador-Quebec border. The crew has to survive in 40-below zero temperatures while their colleagues search for them by air. Lots of tension. Wear a blanket when you watch it. Brrr...
"We're fighting for this woman's honor, which is more than she ever did."
The Norwegian action-thriller Orions Belte/Orion's Belt is set in the Arctic, and is one of the best Scandinavian films ever made. It's also a cold war political thriller, but takes doesn't take sides with the superpowers. Highly recommended.

A large part of the 1982 made-for-TV movie World War III (starring Rock Hudson, David Soul, Brian Keith, and Kathy Lee Crosby) took place in Alaska, with plenty of snow and American and Russian troops facing off.
