Help me identify this WW 2 flick!

hi, b& w movie i can't remember the title of

american and japanese G.I. out to kill each other in the pacific; at very end, a child stumbles into a mine field, and the american, rather than use his last bullet to kill the japanese soldier, saves the child by shooting down some coconuts, setting off the mine field safely

it's NOT "hell in the pacific," a great movie

I think it's this - The Last Bullet - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113606/. But the Allied soldier is Australian, and is played by Jason Donovan. There's a postscript where we see them as old men at a sort of reconciliation party. Does that sound right?

Oh, and it's not b&w, it's quite recent. Perhaps that's not it.
