I notice that almost all the cars shown in exterior scenes are Fords and there are bottles of Old Spice on Singer's and the doctor's dressers.

All Fords? If you had said Chevrolet, maybe. http://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=63050 But that 17 year old Chevy of the doctor is hardly product placement.

Serious commercial product placement hadn't really caught on in 1968. It came later.
