Racial themes

Definitely date this movie.

It also made me a little uncomfortable to watch. I grew up in that time period and I never witnessed that kind of aggression of whites toward blacks, but I'm sure it occurred. I'm just dubious it would happen right out in the open, such as a carnival setting, as portrayed.

If the movie was remade today, I'm thinking you would have to substitute someone from the middle east. Definitely not a Moslem, probably a Chaldean. That way it doesn't make religion the issue.

You should check out the movie "Rosewood"

Doesn't that take place in the early 20's?
