When Is This Movie Set?? (SPOILER!!)

============

I always figured these Dracula movies were set during the Victorian era, but curiously if you look closely during the scene where Christopher Lee totally drains poor Zena, you can see the name plate on the coffin he appropriated & dragged down into the sewer. It appears to read GISELA HEINZ 1885 - 1905, meaning this movie's universe would presumably be set in 1906 or later.

Well, that makes sense... Horror of Dracula takes place in 1885 and Prince of Darkness takes place ten years later. So it's quite possible that this would be set in 1906 or a few years after. Haven't seen Taste the Blood of Dracula yet. But there is a somewhat coherent continuity in the series before Scars of Dracula, which messes everything up...

What I like about the Hammer films is they take creative license with so much and can get away with it. I like to think of it in a different time and place, so the era is not that important to me.

Yes, the coffin, which Dracula uses under the town, next to the bakery, has the inscription "Gizela Seinz, 1885-1905," so the setting must be in the early 1900s. When Gizela was rolled out of the coffin, she looked recently interred, so 1905 or 1906 makes sense.
