Drinking song the students sang....

Any info on the song the students were singing while playing the 'beer glass on a stick' game? Is this a traditional British drinking song or was it written especially for the movie. I know it certainaly has 'traditional' feel to it, but I have never heard it before this movie... Great little song, by the way....

I think it was written for the movie.

Oddly it is the same in the German dubbed version but not the french.

I recently watched FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN, which was made before this one, and the drinking song here sounds like a variation on the song the drunken pranksters sing to Christina in the earlier film.

"'Nature,' Mr. Allnut, is what we are put here to rrrrrriiiiise above!"

What I found funny about that scene where the pilsner glasses they were drinking from where lithographed, and I don't think they were using it on glass at that point. Etching yes, but multi colored prints?

Yes, I noticed that although the song referred to spilling the tankard, the beer was served in glasses.
