Barbara Ewing....So Hot

I must say that i thought Hammer would have used Barbara Ewing more in their movies...SHE WAS SO HOT IN THIS FILM...Hammer had some glamourus women in their movies

reply

Hammer definitely wasn't afraid of using women with curves and beautiful faces.

Yep.

What went wrong with the film industry? When I saw Twilight I couldn't believe how plain and "meh" the lead actress looked.

When somebody like Angelina Jolie is considered beautiful you know something is wrong.

reply

was caroline munroe around then?

reply

Maria (Veronica Carlson) is the best looking babe in any of the early Dracula movies. Those beautiful big eyes, full breasts and soft skin would make me climb through windows too!

Suzan Farmer in Dracula, Prince of Darkness, is very pretty too but still falls short of Carlson's ravishing looks!

reply

I so agree. Veronica Carlson is stunning.

reply

But for some reason she wasn't as 'busty' in 'Grave' as she was in 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' & 'Horror of Frankenstein'.

reply

That was because in Grave she was playing a young, innocent, lovely, virgin.

reply

Well She sort of plays that type ALL the time...the era of the push up bra must not have arrived yet.

reply

It's a late response but Caroline Munroe didn't 'pop up' until the early 1970s

reply

my jaw literally dropped when she appeared on screen. Wow.... just wow.

Barbara was so incredibly hot in this movie. She definitely made this better for me.
I also loved her hair so much, she just looked so good. I Loved seeing her.

reply

She reminded me of a more 'restrained' Kate O'Mara as she was played in 'Horror of Frankenstein'--the censor REALLY loosened up by 1970...

reply

Barbara Ewing was nice, but she was vastly overshadowed by the gorgeous Veronica Carlson. Its like comparing burger to steak.

reply

Barb was sleazier than Veronica--but nowhere near as nasty as O'Mara.

reply

i dont know. i liked Barbara Ewing more

reply

Barbara Ewing as Zena was absolutely stunning. She was fiery and fun as well.

reply

Barbara Ewing was one of the best things about this movie. It was amusing how, even after falling under Dracula's spell, she still stayed herself and dared to argue with him.

There's a light (Over at the Frankenstein place)--The Rocky Horror Picture Show

reply

Yes, some very lovely ladies in this film. It was almost an erotic film when you consider that it targeted a mainstream audience. Might have been a bit too provocative for some for the late '60's.

reply

Barbara's character was the best part of the movie. I loved her attitude and personality.

OK, Barbara's the redhead, Veronica is your blond...who's your classic Hammer brunette of choice?

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

My redhead would be Hazel Court or Yvonne Monlaur, brunette would be Yvonne Furneaux (like Hazel, she was more mature, classy type of glamour) or Eunice Gayson. Too bad Zena was treated so nastily by Drac. It´s even worse in Rasputin the Mad Monk, written again by Anthony Hinds, where innocent redhead - something against redheads, Hammer? - is tortured by name character. She is hit, raped (if I remember right it was sex under hypnosis ie rape), forced to do violent crime (again under hypnosis) and then brutally murdered.

reply

My favorite Hammer babe is Valerie Gaunt.

reply

Barbara Ewing looked absolutely filthy (in the best sense of the word). When you see her in stockings and suspenders it was just Wow!

Did this movie ever explain her relation to JR?

reply

She did look like a gal who's a ton of fun. Physically of course but also personality wise, real spunky and full of life.
