Candy + The 40 Year Old Virgin

Did anyone else notice that they ripped off the final scene from The 40 Year Old Virgin from the final scene in Candy? In the final scene of Candy, she walks along a grassy hill reencountering characters from the film as psychedlic flags fly all around her and a song called "Ascension to Virginity" plays in the backround. I just about flipped when I watched 40 Y/O Virgin and saw practically the same thing at the end. I'm sure it was a tribute, but still...

Apparently they have done the same with a few other movies, I'm not sure which.

I had the same reaction and I think it is so obvious that its true. Strange though because Cany is a somewhat obscure film.

How about Oceans 12 using "Ascension into Virginity" as the last song in the movie? I used to have the soundtrack album to Candy and thought it was great.

The ending of 40 Year Old Virgin is a direct reference to Milos Forman's movie Hair, even using the same song and imagery. Forman may have had some of Candy in mind when he made his movie, a rather loving to tribute to the 60s, in 1978. Hair is underrated.
