Did anyone else notice that they ripped off the final scene from The 40 Year Old Virgin from the final scene in Candy? In the final scene of Candy, she walks along a grassy hill reencountering characters from the film as psychedlic flags fly all around her and a song called "Ascension to Virginity" plays in the backround. I just about flipped when I watched 40 Y/O Virgin and saw practically the same thing at the end. I'm sure it was a tribute, but still...

shareThe ending of 40 Year Old Virgin is a direct reference to Milos Forman's movie Hair, even using the same song and imagery. Forman may have had some of Candy in mind when he made his movie, a rather loving to tribute to the 60s, in 1978. Hair is underrated.
