Yeah, I know I'm responding to a six year old comment.
It's mostly out of frustration.
I accidently caught "Laugh-In" on the "Decades" channel recently, and regardless of the uneven and repetitious quality of the material, for me it's a worthwhile and funny nostalgic trip.
I'm not arguing with you, or the reviewer. But I can't believe that the show hasn't been released in its entirety-- or at least the first five seasons-- because it's too dated or inferior to sell.
There is just too much absolute crap on DVD to argue that "quality" is even a consideration in producing DVDs.
For instance, I was pleasantly surprised when "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" was released as a box set a couple of years ago. I never thought it would happen!
I thought, nah, no DVD company will take a chance on a cult classic with a million episodes! Actually, there are 325 episodes-- I just looked it up.
Someone who controls the rights must be refusing to release the series. It's a shame, because despite the mediocre video quality I'd prefer to see the episodes uncut, and without commercial interruption.
