Cringeworthy dialogue and puns

So, what exactly was Ron Carlivati's obsession with puns? I'm convinced the man has absolutely NO idea how REAL teenagers talk and act; when Matthew was paralyzed his schoolmates teased him mercilessly, and yeah I get that high schoolers can be cruel, but these jokers were damn insufferable; it went way past the point of being believable to actually being comical yeah calling him "wheels", I'm sure those teenage idiots spent all NIGHT thinking of that insult; likewise when Snoop Dogg appeared as himself, I don't think he spoke like an actual human being once, his entire vocabulary consisted of nothing but hip hop puns about the "hood"; did this annoy anybody else?
