Mr. Rogers didn't always leave with shoes on?

I've read a brief article, and comments on former MRN You tube videos, years ago, that Mr. Rogers sometimes didn't change back into his loafers, and would just leave without any shoes on. Was this really so? According to the aforementioned article, the person who wrote it said this was to save time. I don't buy that as a reason, since it only takes 2 seconds to put shoes on. And if he really did leave without shoes, how would one know if you can't see his feet?

Most likely he slipped them on before he stood up.

Just this morning I saw an episode where at the end it was pretty obvious he didnt change back into his loafers. I think it was a timing issue, while singing the exit song sometimes and since he was shot from the waist up they figured no one would notice.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

I did notice him skipping the shoes. Possibly a few times, I think, but I am certain I've seen him do this at least once, and for the reasons given elsewhere on this thread.

At the end of a pretty full (that is, "busy") show, he would go into his exit song while putting his coat on. I recall him taking the loafers off, but skipping the shoes, because there just wasn't time to sit there two seconds longer. (This is television, after all, and it is all timed.)

I remember YEARS ago my Grandfather said he caught an episode where he forgot to put his loafers back on as he left the house and my Great Aunt, who was in the room with us screeched "You mean he walked out BAREFOOT?!" lol this thread made me smile from that memory.

It doesn't take 2 seconds for HIS shoes. He always has to sit on the damn bench, toss his old ones in the air, catch them with the semblance of great poise and skill, sing and talk to the boys and girls... that's at least 45 seconds. If you're short on time, a TV show cannot afford that without extensive and expensive post-editing. Head for the door Fred!
