Purple People and Purple Panda

...From the Planet Purple.

Can anyone tell me the episodes these characters showed up on? Maybe they're on one of the DVDs? I'd love to see if they're still as creepy as I remember them. Especially the 2 people, they were like purple robot zombies and they really scared me as a kid.

All I remember about the purple people was that it was one of the REALLY old episodes they were in. Purple Panda, on the other hand, seemed to crop up in a lot of serials. My favorite part was when he disappeared, since I thought he was a really annoying character, but the disappearing part was cool. What kid wouldn't want to be able to disappear on occasion? :-)

I AM SO GLAD I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE! I just want to find it and watch them again to put it at ease and laugh at them. Man those things scared me!

Paul and Pauline (the purple people) were not zombies, they were PURE UNFILTERED NIGHTMARE FUEL. I almost choked on my tongue anytime they showed up. Just Googling for pictures of them makes my blood run cold because I'm sure that as soon as I let my guard down a page will pop up with THOSE CIRCULAR FACES staring into my soul with THOSE PURPLE EYES! Even now I want to curl up in the fetal position and sob. Thanks, Mr. Rogers. Thanks for giving me that.

Anyway, I was pretty young at the time, but they were definitely color episodes. I'd estimate that puts them between 1971 and 1974. Start going through the seasons episode by episode, I guess.

LOL!!! Finally, people who understand the dreaded horror of those Purple People! Paul and Pauline- wow, I'd forgotten their names. I felt so betrayed by Mr. Rogers for allowing that evil into the Neighborhood of Make Believe. He may as well have unleashed those unbearably creepy hallway twins from The Shining on us(shudder)!

Just saw the purple panda on PBS in the episode where Wynton Marsalis visits. An internet search found it aired in 1985. Wynton is great of course - but the purple panda is very weird, why does he talk like a robot?

reply

Well, how is a purple panda bear supposed to sound when it talks?

reply

He talks like an alien because he is from Planet Purple.

Proof that Purple Panda is still scary after all these years!!!

I always loved Paul, Pauline, and Purple Panda.

I'm showing my seven year old Mister Rogers via Amazon Prime. I'd love to show her the episodes where Lady Elaine went into space and discovered the Planet Purple.

I love Paul, Pauline and Purple Panda too. I thought Paul and Pauline were cute, they looked like giant purple gingerbread men. I am looking for any episodes with Paul and Pauline Purple in them. They have to be the most obscure characters of all time. I can't find them anywhere. I don't think they are available in the usual places so I'm trying to find episode/s to purchase that somebody may have recorded at home or may have come in an old defunct collection.

I think Paul and Pauline are in the following episodes:

Season 5 (1972) Episodes 42, 53, 44 which are show numbers 1237, 1238, 1239 respectively

Season 7 (1974) Episodes 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 which are show numbers 1355, 1356, 1357, 1358, 1359 respectively.

I am dying to see my old friends Paul and Pauline Purple again, I haven't seen them since the 70s. Please contact me if you can help me track them down, anybody. Thanks!
