MAYBERRY RFD DVD

Has anyone heard whether or not Paramount is going to release Mayberry RFD box sets after they release all the Andy Griffith Show ones? Hope so, and I'd also like to see Return to Mayberry included in the last season of Andy Griffith.

reply

Paramount doesn't own RFD. Apparently, Andy Griffith (who was a producer) had enough clout that he didn't have to share ownership of the show with CBS (which is what happened with the original show, and why ownership ended up with Paramount/Viacom). Warner Bros. has the syndication rights to RFD, but I'm not sure this extends to DVD.

reply

Cool, thanks for the info. I always assumed Paramount owned the whole deal.

reply

Oh, kind of off subject, but does anyone know who owns the rights to Matlock? Or that "New Andy Griffith Show" that came on for a couple months in the '70's?

reply

Viacom owns the rights to Matlock, but as to The New Andy Griffith Show, I don't know.

reply

Corporate mumbo jumbo.
