I watched 'The Camper' yesterday and it was the first time that I'd seen it since it was first broadcast. Goober and Howard both act like complete idiots throughout the entire episode. Not surprising for these two emotionally stunted characters, but they were made to seem very unlikeable in the process.

I just watched it. It was obviously a throwback to the Andy Griffith episode when Aunt Bea, Clara and friend Myrtle all went to Mexico and had their falling-out.
