How Did Millie Go From Howard to Sam?

On Andy Griffith, Millie was with HOward Sprague, but on RFD, she's with Sam.

I doubt Jack Dodds minded, but after an entire Andy Griffith episode where Helen Crump was the only woman anybody could dance with at Howard's party, since no one else could get a date, it looks strange he lost Millie as well.

I watched RFD today with her on it and wondered about her as well. I know that on TAGS she and Howard were going to tie the knot, but decided against it after the long train ride, but it was interesting that they never got together.

I remember the train ride, but I didn't know she and Howard broke up, I thought they just called off some wedding plans or something.

I figured it was decided she looked cuter with Ken Berry, but just wondered how the break up with Howard went down, if they were actually planning on marrying at one time.

If I'm not mistaken, Millie was actually dating Goober, or at least went to a dance or something with him, but connected more with Sam, I wanna say that was in the first episode of Mayberry RFD

Started dancing with Sam and Goober bowed out.
Just saw the episode on Decades
"It's the system, Lara. People will be different after the Revolution."

In that case, I wonder what happened to Flora. Flora was Goob's girlfriend who worked at the diner, and sometimes at the filling station. Oh, and whatever happened to Lydia Crosswaithe too? She was the one that according to Andy always kept her head hanging out the car window "like a dog". LOL

In the first episode when Millie appears and Sam takes an interest in her, Howard mentions that he dated her but things "didn't work out" or something similar. He never mentions nearly getting married.

Oddly enough, and I checked to make sure as I thought she did, 'Charlene Darling' turned up on Mayberry RFD as 'Edna' a totally different character.

I guess they were going to try to see if she would be a good branch-out this way, but she didn't click.

They'd have been better off having Howard (or Goober) with Charlene DArling.
