Andy and Aunt Bee's relationship post the marriage to Helen

I understand that Mayberry RFD was a spinoff and Andy only made sporadic appearances till he was eventually phased out, as well as Andy and Francis had a tempestuous relationship in real life but wow how much that carried over to RFD was astonishing to me.

I get that they had Aunt Bee move in w/Sam and Mike so her character could keep on w/o seeing Andy, Helen, and Opie, as well as the character would want to give Andy and Helen their space to start their new life together but the scenes that Andy and Bee shared were very tense. We see Bee inquire at church as to how Opie is feeling to Andy and he just says he is okay and Helen stayed at home to tend to him and that was it. I just can't imagine that Bee wouldn't be more involved and concerned considering she raised Opie. The other moment is when Bee is engaged to the ship captain and Andy, Helen, and Opie are nowhere nor are they ever mentioned during the time she left for the cruise to the engagement weeks to the eventual dissolution of the engagement.

They really should have not put Aunt Bee in the spin-off since she is so intertwined in Andy and Opie's life and vice-versa. If anything they should have explained at the beginning of RFD that either Andy and Helen moved away or that Bee had moved on to another relative's house to care for them like she did later on in S3.

I'm enjoying watching this series as i've seen all the episodes of TAGS so many times, and these are all new episodes to me. Of course RFD gets a little strange in S3, but I guess the times were a-changing.

I noticed the very cold relationship between Andy and Aunt Bee too. The scene at the church stood out to me, but when Andy and Helen visited with the baby, Andy and Aunt Bee seemed like casual acquaintances. Perhaps this was the wish of Bavier.

I also found it strange that they never offered an explanation as to why Goober hadn't seen his brother in 20 years. Yet this brother was a well known NASA scientist but Goober had no idea what the brother did for a living.

I watched this show during it's first run. It's only this time around that I realized that the entire show centered around a few characters, and I don't enjoy it as much as I did back then. But then again, I was only 11 at the time.

Always remember, Goober was a moron.

Goober was not a "moron," just a bit naive'
somewhat immature but he was an astute
businessman.
So his brother a worker @ NASA didn't connect...
Family. Dysfunction.
Obvious, though never stated, his brother didn't
want to acknowledge the fact he was working at NASA & Goober worked aa a gas station attendant in a small town.
