Desi Jr. Should Have Remained On The Show

I found him really good in this show. He shouldn't have eventually left, but stayed until the show's end in 1974.

I agree. Lucie Arnaz's voice was a bit annoying. It's like she screamed her lines even when she wasn't.

Agreed.

Lucie Arnaz commented on the dvd that Desi Jr was supposed to leave the show and go into movies. Who knows what went wrong. Lack of talent certainly isn't a factor.
I imagine it was along the same lines as what Will Smith has done with his son, Jaden.
Desi doesn't seem like he would have been interested in it, from what I recall.

He was also a very good looking young man. I watched it years ago but never realized how cute Desi was. Lucie, not so much.

I hadn't seen Here's Lucy in many years, until the recent COZI marathon. I, too, had forgotten how attractive both Lucie & Desi Jr were. To me, Desi Jr somewhat resembled a young John Stamos.

At first, I thought both Arnaz children appeared far too old to be portraying high school students. After doing some homework, I discovered they were both actually in their teens at the time the series launched in '68.

Lucy freely admitted her comedic success came from the people that surrounded her, not of her own innate and boundless talent. That was evident in this 3rd incarnation of her ongoing CBS series. The original I Love Lucy/The Lucy Show crew of writers & directors (save director Jack Donohue) had gradually left, and it almost seemed as if Lucy simply called in favours from her show biz friends to guest star in an attempt to fill in plot weakness an lack of creative ideas.

By '68, she had stepped down as CEO of Desilu, and sold the company to Paramount. Perhaps this transition had something to do with the rest of the original staff leaving and the inferior production.

Lucie Arnaz had some very nice legs.

They were tremendous getaway sticks; easily the best thing about her.

I think once TLS was sold along with the Desilu Studios, the remaining cast and crew knew it would be Lucy in charge - no arguing with her, with her allowed to just be an all-out bitch.

I think they were all just tired of working with her and knew it would only be worse with her having no one to reign her in.

I've been watching "Here's Lucy" for the first time on Cozi TV, and I noticed that Desi Jr was missing at the end of season 4 & is not in season 5 credits. I actually liked seeing his handsome face & kinda disappointed that he didn't he didn't stay with the duration of the series.

I wonder of it had anything to do with Lucie getting more scenes on the show? I agree with the other comments that Lucie is a bit annoying to watch.

Desi Jr. wanted to be a movie star, and left the show to pursue film. He had some minor success, but truth is neither he nor Lucie would have been given a second look without their pedigrees.

Yep, he should have!

Desi, Jr. had the chance to become a movie star. Plus, no way would his mother keep him on her squeaky clean family show, once he was diddling Patty Duke and supposedly impregnating her at age 16.

Whatever talent Desi had for acting pretty much dried up after a stint of failed big screen movies, followed by innocuous made-for-TV drek. He hasn't aged well and looks terrible for just 63 years old. His sister is much more well preserved.
