Yeah, i loved this show although i dont remember much about it anymore except some cool playhouse. Its been awhile ;)
It's been on Boomerang (cable) for a year now. They have shown all of them through quite a few times, although I would like more info, commentaries & lost episodes, etc., too.
some need to go up 1 or down 1:
http://us.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=10088562
The package on Boomerang only consists of 36 half-hour cutdowns of the 18 Season 1 shows (each of the shows loses about a minute or two of footage in the bargain). The Season 2 shows (there were 13) are not represented at all. I don't know of anyone who has copies of any Season 2 shows...despite bootleggers' claims to the contrary.
WB is said to be preparing a DVD set. Time will tell if everything will be included, or even found. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one.
Do you know if "Danger Island" was also in season 2?
From what I remember, Boomerang showed the begining of DI, and it went all the way to the end, where there was a conclusion of sorts.
(Also, I'm not sure if Season 2 was included when this ran on Cartoon Network, about 10 years ago; but I think all the Danger Island episodes were shown.)
"Danger Island" aired in both seasons. There were 18 chapters. (In the half-hour cut-downs, the "Danger Island" chapters are cut in half, so there are 36 5-minute chapters instead of 18 10-minute chapters.
The whole serial aired from beginning to end in Season 1 (1968-1969) and was repeated again in Season 2 (1969-1970). Because Season 2 had fewer episodes (13 compared to 18), back in 1969-1970 NBC aired five re-edited Season 1 episodes to feature the final five "Danger Island" chapters after the Season 2 shows finished airing.
Richard Donner directed all the live action in the first season of "The Banana Splits Adventure Hour," including the Banana Splits segments and the "Danger Island" segments. For Season 2, Tom Boutross was the series' main director, but since the "Danger Island" chapters were repeats that year, Donner is only credited as the director of "Danger Island" in the Season 2 closing credits...which somehow ended up grafted onto the syndicated Season 1 half-hour cutdowns. "Arabian Knights" also was repeated for Season 2, while "The Three Musketeers" was replaced with "The Hillbilly Bears." The Banana Splits portions of the Season 2 shows were all new, but none of that material has been repeated since the original network run ended in 1970.
WB is working on a Season 1 DVD set, and they are trying to locate all the materials to reconstruct the shows as they originally aired...it's no easy task, given that the Hanna-Barbera library has changed hands so many times and gone through so many owners since the show first aired. Let's keep our fingers crossed...piecing the show back together is a challenge, to say the least. I am confident at least that whatever does eventually come out will be better than the bootlegs being peddled on line...but then, that isn't hard.
shareFound a 4DVD set and a bunch of other 60's HB sets here:

They are very good quality, off of Boomerang.
I too hope they put this show on dvd!
I was only about 2 years old when i came out and remember very little of the original run but i do remember it after it went in to reruns, Plus i love that theme song!!!
