Not having a care in the world....

This series always makes me think of growing up in the 70's and Saturday morning television and not having a care in the world. Because when you think of it there were plenty of problems in the world at the time but when your age 5 to 10 you just don't think of those things. I think that is completely crazy. But none the less fond memories of just playing with friends, television at the time, summer's that seemed to last forever, baseball and football cards, comics, riding your bike in the neighbor hood on a bright sunny day. WOW now that's some strong stuff, man if there were such a thing as a time machine and to relive those days again.

Actually, it was the Splits that opened my eyes to reality. Until I was six, we lived in a big city. The family broke up and my younger brother and I were taken half a continent away to a small town in the middle of nowhere. One of the episodes really opened my eyes.

One of the Splits had developed a crush on one of the front gate girls (she was only 15, I'll let you ponder that). Anyway, she lets him down easy during a montage and the song that played struck me between the eyes-somewhere there was bright lights, music, and happiness, and I was at the place farthest from it.
