Girl singers?

Was this the show where two little girls turned up at the door and sang "ta ra ra boom di ay" and the Split who answered the door fell over backwards? Or am I thinking of something else altogether?

reply

Yep, it sure was. God, I want this show on DVD!!!!

Yes, the show is on Australia's Foxtel cable network on the classic cartoons channel "Boomerang" and yesterday featured "The Dilly Sisters" (these are 1/2 hour versions of the original series)

Yes, it was the Banana Splits, altho clips from other cartoons are used throughout music videos of the Banana Splits themselves, so the girls may have turned up elsewhere, and as someone noted, they were called the Dilly Sisters. One is in a pink dress and the other in a green dress.

Green dress has some uneven teeth, and pink dress is quite a looker for her age. But they are both adorable little girls, anyway.

they did a very unnecessary effect of zooming the camera in and out on them while they played. Someone must have thought it might look corny, but it is quite impressive to see these two little girls mastering those guitars that are about as big as they are.

You can still watch the show. It's on the Boomerang classic cartoon channel in the U.S.

I also remember the girls, but always thought they were called "The Sour Grapes". From the chat thread it appears that I am wrong... Was their something about "The Sour Grapes"?...

reply

Could have been. Sounds vaguely familiar, probably something odd that Drooper would have said just before they introduced the girls once or twice.

reply

The group was in fact named The Sour Grapes.

The Dilly sisters ran off with one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted?

Wow, I think my head is going to explode.

Is there any follow-up to this story? Jeffs has been caught now, hasn't he?

The surreality of this is really messing with my mind!

Just a painted face on a trip down suicide row

NPR reported Friday that Donna and Dolores Dillwertz, aka "The Dilly Sisters," were reported missing and thought to be hiding out with fugitive polygamist Warren Jeffs, head of the FLDS clan and one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted.

hahaha, oh God please don't tell me it's supposed to be the same people

R.O.D the tv...nuff said

The Dilly Sisters were the singers, the Sour Grapes bunch was the gang of girls in pigtails and rad go go boots. Totally different and both on this show. I wanted to be a Sour Grapes girl so bad, I'm considering going as one for Halloween!

Jeffs, now serving a life sentence for abusing minors, has been starving himself and is now in a medically induced coma.
