the most inappropriate use of the theme song

This past week, I unexpectedly heard The Banana Splits theme in the least likely place I would have expected it.

While watching the movie "Kick-Ass" at the theatre, the theme song starts playing (in a very upbeat way) while they show a little girl killing people and plays throughout the scene of her happily killing people "La La La La.... One banana two banana three, three bananas make a bunch and so do many more..."

For some reason you don't know this, so I'll type slowly and hopefully you can keep up.
Kick-Ass is a dark comedy. It is NOT intended for kids. Generation-X viewers like myself (they are adults now) should recognize the theme song and get a good laugh over it. I found it very funny.

I know that, but I still think it's inappropriate. After all, now I'll never be able to hear the theme song again without thinking of Hit Girl. LOL.

After watching the dvd of the movie I just got, it really does fit with the movie on several levels even if the produucers/directors didn't ntend it on all those levels.

It's much better than if they went with the Scooby-Doo theme song like they were originally going to.

The Scooby-Doo theme sog is s fine, but doesn't really fit this movie, imo. And on the commentary they stated that they decided it was too surreal to use the Scooby Doo theme song.

Besides her mood in the scene,

The Banana Splits theme song fits because Hit Girl is bananas.

I would even go so far as to say she's a Sour Grape Girl.

It was so unexpected that it made me laugh out loud. It's the one scene I think of when I think of that film, so the makers did their job since the majority of the films I have seen in the past decade are completely forgettable.

Try not to take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

The version being played was by the Dickies and suited the scene perfectly!!!

You are entitled to my opinion, whether you want it or not!!
