Hypes and neckwear

Just watched the Jimmy Eisley Dealing Smack episode. Is it just me or did some of those "hypes" and druggies in this episode seem kind of.... older than you'd think? They looked like they were in their 40s at least, and sort of responsible, business-man-looking, when you'd expect them to show long-haired, druggie-hippie types. Especially considering the Webb mindset about drugs.

(That reminds me... in Grand Theft Horse, the stable owner says the suspect who took her horse was a typical hippie, and she specifically mentioned long hair and beads. But when they caught the guy,his hair wasn't really long at all, didn't even cover his ears. And you couldn't really see his "beads" at all, except in one brief scene, but not at all when he was in the back of the squad car. I don't think he looked like a hippie at all.)

Also, I thought the officers would wear clip-on ties, for safety purposes, rather than 'real' ties. But it clearly showed Malloy & Lt. Moore tying actual ties.

When my sister was in the Army, a drill sargeant told them the story of why he wore clip-ons. He said they were trying to arrest a guy and the guy grabbed his tie and proceeded to try and choke him out. He then started wearing clip-ons.
