So I just found out Malloy was banging Ed Wells' wife

No wonder Wells and Malloy were at odds!

I just recently watched "Log 152: A Dead Cop Can't Help Anyone" (Ed Wells gets shot) and then, later the same day, "Log 103: A Sound Like Thunder" (Reed and Malloy, along with pregnant Jean and Malloy's date Sally Fisher, visit a ghost town and a group of bad bikers show up, led by Bruce Glover as "Bach" aka "Batch"). As it turns out, petite cutie Barbara Baldavin played both Betty Wells, wife of Ed, and Sally Fisher, Malloy's date.

The sequence of episodes was funny, because it made it appear as though Malloy was doing Ed Wells' wife.

Well, I'm not sure I'd characterize it as Malloy "banging" or "doing" Wells' wife but yes, he definite did know her. (And she was very pretty too, I thought; they made a nice couple.) Actually, in "A Dead Cop..." when they met at the hospital, I thought she was kind of making eyes at Pete. And if she had three kids in four years w/ Wells, no wonder she'd be looking to get out of the house once in a while.

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, Wells and Malloy didn't exactly seem chummy--at all--more like Pete couldn't stand Wells, and yet Pete knows his wife, he knows the kids, etc. So how does he know so much about Wells' family if they don't even seem to like each other??

We ALL know the answer to this one: pillow talk with Ed's wife.

LOL, you're determined to start that particular bit of gossip, aren't you?? She definitely seemed more Pete's type than Wells' type. But maybe if Wells was the one who offered a ring and a home (such ancient concepts!), she might have thrown Pete over for him.

reply

LOL! And kudos to Jim Reed for sticking to the bro code and not telling Jeanne about who "Sally" really is.

reply

Yup. Reed was clearly in on it the whole time, yet he never ratted Malloy out. That's the way to backup your partner, for sure.

reply

That's why when they were in the locker room Pete would always ask Wells- "How's your wife and my kids?"

The actress is Barbara Baldavin, and she also is in Season One's "It's Just a Small Dent,Isn't It?" credited as 'Mother'. She is best known for making a couple of appearances on Star Trek, first on the episode "Balance of Terror", where she played a phaser technician whose marriage was interrupted by an engagement - where her husband to be gets killed.

Her husband at the time was Joe D'Agosta, the casting director for Desilu, meaning he was responsible for casting not only Star Trek, but also Mission: Impossible, and The Lucy Show. She ended up being a casting director/casting assistant herself.
