Incident on 18th Street--thoughts?

Tonight I watched Incident on 18th Street. Second time I've watched this episode. First time I didn't like it at all because I kept wondering where are Malloy and Reed, beyond their two brief appearances at the beginning and end.

This time, knowing that Millner and McCord are only making cameo appearances and that the episode was obviously an attempt by Jack Webb/Mark VII to get a series about the LA District Attorney Fraud Investigation office off the ground, I could stomach it a little more.

Concept and setting of such a show is interesting and would have made for a potentially good show, so long as Jack Webb backed off from the writing and direction. Lots of Webb speak dialogue and dialogue delivery, especially from series star Ed Nelson. Frank Sinatra Jr. is a wash as the investigator and lacking in charm; Sharon Gless showed a lot of potential but was not well used. The plot, exposing a quack doctor, was interesting and I liked how he was exposed in court.

Though it's not the 905 WILD of Adam 12, it's still one of the weaker episodes of Adam 12.
