The kid poisoned by detergent episode

I forgot the title, but I remember the episode was a real head shaker. The boy died and it was awful, but I am glad they were so realistic in the show and didn't change it around to where he survived. Such episodes raised plenty of awareness to household poisons laying around, no doubt.
This is my fave cop show ever because the stories captivate you without over-dramatizing like cop shows do now,

"Well, I never!"
"I bet you did!"

Which episode is that? I can't recall it. I do remember and episode of Emergency! where a kid purposely ate rat poison and he did a lot of painful writhing around.

I honestly don't recall an episode with this type of storyline in it. Any other details to help narrow down a search??

I'm thinking this sounds more like an Emergency episode as well.

There was an episode of E! with a boy getting seriously poisoned, but it wasn't by detergent.

BTW, since you're an Adam-12 fan, there are some stories (e-books) that have officers named Pete and Jim. They're not Adam-12 stories, but they have a similar vibe as the show. ๐Ÿ“•

Now that others have suggested that the episode you're thinking of might be from Emergency!, I know there was an episode of that show in which a boy ate ant poison (not detergent) and was seriously ill. His mother thought he was faking in order to get attention but he had really done it. Sadly, he did end up dying.

Of course, just like Adam-12, all the cases/rescues seen on Emergency! actually happened. If it didn't come from a log-book somewhere, it didn't get put in the show. ๎€น

Adam-12 did an episode where a small child was molested and died. So, they do tackle issues that are realistic.
