I finally bought the box set of Adam-12. I just finished with the pilot episode and I must say that Malloy was a real a**hole to Reed!! I remember the later seasons better than I do the earlier ones and I had forgotten the first episode.
Not sure I would use the "a-word" for Malloy. He was 1) jaded and disgusted and ready to quit, and 2) trying to work with a raw rookie he didn't want to deal with and who needed to have his soft edges sharpened quickly.
Any a-hole-ishness might be possibly chalked up to the writers trying to be 'edgy' and making Malloy a "tough character."
Just theorizing. Plus, I'm a Malloy fan so I have to stick up for my guy.
Well I guess that the word a**hole is to harsh a word so I apologize for that. I understand that Malloy was disgusted and upset about his previous partner and all, I just think that he could've been a little nicer towards Reed that's all. I also just purchased the box set of "Emergency" and the movies.
Pete might have not been all that off for being the way he was.
At the beginning Reed doesn't follow him to the car like he should which might of given Malloy a bad impression only to have handling the park incident the wrong way.
I can understand about after the park incident but I just think that he could've been nicer. You can definitely tell that Jack Webb was involved by the rapid fire lines, especially with Malloy explaining about the black and white.
