If they ever make an Adam-12 movie

I hope they don't even think of making it a silly comedy like they do today with all of the other shows they try to make movies out of. I liked Starsky and Hutch. It couldn't compare to the show and the movie was a comedy and silly. But that would never work with Adam-12. I didn't like when they did it with Dragnet and I despised the Dark Shadows movie. An Adam-12 movie has to be serious. To put Malloy and Reed in a silly comedy would be a travesty. I'd think the same if they ever tried to do that with Magnum too.

They did it to 21 Jump Street. Seems like everytime Hollywood "remakes" or "re-imagines" something, they hire the same comedy writers. Guess they think that's the only way to draw in the 18-29 year old crowd.

At the other extreme, they might go the way of "End of Watch" and make it so dark and profanity-laden that nobody will want to see it.

Best way to make an Adam 12 movie updated to today would be as a documentary on two patrol officers in LA, one the rookie, the other a training officer.

There are a couple of books (ebooks) out there that are apparently Adam-12 inspired: veteran cop named Pete and rookie cop named Jim.

NO television show has ever been remade into an even passable movie much less good.


