Has Aged Well

This flic looks good-or,even better since '67 when i first saw it at the local drive-in;

It has a lot going for it:cast,grit,locale,pacing,music,etc

Solid western thru and thru,taut script,humor in the right places-a real gem alright !

It's always a treat to watch this movie again. I've seen it several times over the years, and I agree, it seems to be one for the ages. You couldn't ask for two bigger stars than John Wayne and Kirk Douglas, and the repartee between the two in this movie is priceless. I'd be hard pressed to come up with any other big stars of that time period to replace them in those roles.

It's aged great because it was supposed to be a bit of a send up of the genre when it was made,before the likes of Blazing Saddles existed.So it doesn't look dated at all because it was never meant to be taken seriously.

Good ole Kirk and the Duke do mesh well in this rip-snorter !

Fine,sparkling dialog and such a strong cast to be sure.Cabot makes such a nasty customer and he is smarmy in every way.The visuals also make it nice on the eyes and so do the appearances of some very pretty ladies to boot !

-Priceless

Not really. It's pretty bad. The poor attempt at humor undermines any potential this had.
