I'm watching this movie now (I've seen it dozens of times) and just noticed something that would be a "continuity goof". When Pierce is demonstrating the gun, he shoots a couple of wooden barrels that are full of water. They have three or 4 holes with water pouring out and several seconds pass by showing the water pouring out. Yet, the barrels are still full of water all the way through and never show the level going down.
sharethat makes sense actually since he was shooting magic bullets. (there was no ammo clip in the gun and no room for one between the top of the gun and the roof of the turret) LOL

Gatlin gun had no ammo. I happen to be a gun owner with a lot of experience with guns and that detail slipped right by me.

shareWell, I owned a 45/70 Marlin --- Same caliber as the Gatling guns of the day --- I think 2 or 3 shots into a full water barrel would do more damage than a couple holes leaking water
