Video essay on the jump scare

Came across this great analysis of why the jump scare is so effective in this film:

It's rare for this movie to get any attention in the YouTube film analysis sphere, so this is a treat.

Very interesting analysis. Quite often I get to write essays at the university on various topics, including those related to the film industry or favorite movies. I found a useful site https://studydriver.com/ where I find a lot of useful information and examples of research, essays on various issues. It helps me write my writing assignments much faster.

Yeah, I thought so too. Jump scares get a bad rep, but they can be done well. I think the secret is to be sparing.

Saw this in a theater in 1967. When Arkin jumped, everybody in the theater gasped or yelled and just about jumped out of their seats. That shot was extremely effective. My heart was beating fast for the next few minutes.

That sounds awesome. Everyone who saw it in the theater back then seems to have had that wonderful shared moment.

Only watched a few minutes of this because he was extremely annoying to me. I have a hard time watching just a few minutes when somebody speaks very annoyingly, let alone 14 plus minutes. Anyway, jump scares go back a long way. And I think this is one of the best jumpscares ever:
