Did any else think that Sam the husband was kind of a jerk? His wife is almost murded and he stands back waiting on her to come to him

reply

yeah........! (Sigh....) My mother said the same thing when she and I saw it together when it was first released. He's a jerk in many other scenes, too.
After all these years, I have to say I really don't like this movie.
I'm sure this is on another post, but...
..how 'bout how deserted the streets are in NYC...! There's NO ONE around..! That's not possible.

reply

YES. He sounded like he was calling his dog.

That pissed me off too. He should have run over to her. It wasn't the proper time to be testing her.

Just saw it today and yeah, he was a jerk! He should have gone to her at the end but I think the purpose was to show the audience that she had succeeded in "being the best blind woman" like her husband wanted as indicated in their conversation earlier in the movie. This was before the woman's lib era, remember. BTW, did anyone catch the part earlier in the movie when she asked her husband where the fridge was plugged in and her husband said she could find it herself? In the climax, she was struggling to find that plug to kill the fridge light so Alan Arkin's character couldn't see.

YES!!!!!

Fasten your seatbelts.... It's going to be a bumpy night!
