I can't believe Tony was supposed to be 26


He looked 36 if he was a day! If the studio wanted a 26 year old they should have hired a younger actor to play the part.

Interesting that 20th Century-Fox apparently did not think a major well-known leading man necessary for either VALLEY OF THE DOLLS or PEYTON PLACE.

Valley of the Dolls was about 3 young-ish women. A well-known leading man would have been a distraction. TV's Peyton Place was probably too low-budget to afford a star of higher power than Dorothy Malone. And it was about young love, so young leading men were appropriate.
