where can i get this movie?

i've been looking on the internet the dvd of TFTR, but no luck. when's it gonna be out? does anyone know where to get this movie? i've been to many movie rental stores and they say they haven't got it.

Are you in the states? I've looked on Amazon and it came out in Britain last year but it's not out on Region 1 DVD yet. It said it was coming soon though, but it didn't give any details.

ive got the region 2 (british) dvd and its in widescreen but the picture quality is pretty naff and it doesnt have any extras worth writing home about. it was released through a company called optimum releasing if thats any help to you

reply

Yep, I can concur with that. The Optimum releasing release is absolute *beep* Thank god I didn't have to pay full price (about 30 euros), because I got it second hand.

Yes, the aspect ratio is widescreen, but not the right one. It should be anamorphic 2.35:1, but instead it's letterboxed 1.85:1.

The sound seems to be OK. No muddiness there.

The funny thing is that, I have downloaded a much better version from a P2P network. The picture quality is slightly better and the aspect ratio is the correct one (but still not anamorphic).

Of course, in the end, all this technical babble is irrelevant, because you can still perfectly well enjoy the story and the performances

No, I don't live in the States. But even if I lived there, I don't think I'll be able to get it. I looked in amazon.com, but it says that they haven't released the movie yet. Too bad I don't live in Britain or somewhere in Europe, because I'm dying to watch that movie! Btw verdoux-1, you said you downloaded it from a website or something like that?? I'd be sooooo greatful if you could give me the name of the site, please! thanks to all of you!

I wish there was an easy way to explain how to get it and how to play it, but there isn't, so I'll just give you a rough idea of what to expect.

I downloaded the movie with a P2P-program called eMule (http://www.emule-project.net)

The movie is cut into two files (CD1 and CD2), both about 700Mb and there are not a lot of sources for that movie, so it might take many weeks to download it.

After you have gotten the files, you have to have video and audio (Xvid and AC3) codecs installed in your machine in order to play the files.

As you can see, it’s not that simple to get a couple of files off the internet

A more direct way to get this movie is to buy it at amazon.co.jp (it is quite strange that Fox publishes Region 2 disc of the movie instead of Region 1! Another example is Gregory Peck's "Gunfighter".)

reply

I've just seen that a Region 1 DVD has a scheduled release date of November 1.
