How about a home video release?

This was a neat little thriller with a great cast (Oliver Reed, Gig Young and Carol Lynley) that used to turn up on late night TV on a regular basis. It's a pity that it seems to have never been given a VHS or DVD release.

i agree its a fantastic little thriller but as yet unreleased anywhere on dvd which is a crying shame! i do remember seeing it ages ago on tv but hasnt appeared again on tv in years which is typical now i have my dvd recorder ready! so i guess its just a case of waiting to see if it eventually gets to dvd or appears again on late nite tele!

I vote for a Criterion release. Really do it up right. Haven't seen this one since a late night back in the early 70's on telly. Those were the days.

I haven't seen this since the 1970s either. It was in faded color and (I think) was edited. Definetely deserves a DVD release.

One of my all time scare me to death movies when i was little -- right up there with The Legend of Hell House. Wish they would release it on DVD as I would like to see it again.

It scared me to death as well as a kid 30 years ago when I watched it on late night TV

Actually, it was so some extent. Someone did release this film but under its other title, Blood Island, on VHS. I bought a copy off of eBay. Its an excellent copy, I watched it all the way through. Try eBay and see what you find. I don't think Blood Island was transferred to DVD yet.

I have the "Blood Island" release of Shuttered Room on VHS. It's okay, except that they cut out some of the beginning moments, and maybe a few more here and there during the movie, if I remember correctly. Not quite the same as what I remember watching on late-night TV.

I really hate those censorship do-gooders who chop out the best parts of scary or sexy films. Just what are they "protecting" the adults who watch them from?

The film just came out on Region 1 DVD from Warner Brothers. It's on a doublebill with "It" starring Roddy McDowall. The disc offers a nice crisp widescreen presentation of the picture.
